Alan J. Hughes Custom Sawmilling was founded in 2001 as an extension of Alan's electrical contracting business. The company was founded on the principles of honesty, integrity and dependability, and Alan has gained a well-deserved reputation around the Ottawa Valley for his quality craftsmanship and attention to detail.
Alan J. Hughes Custom Sawmilling has seen much growth since its inception and continues to produce quality lumber for satisfied customers. Plans are currently underway for an expansion that will allow for both increased capacity and lumber treatment options.
Alan is joined by Heather Hughes to compose the Alan J. Hughes Custom Sawmilling team. When required, additional manpower is recruited to help bring larger jobs to completion.
Alan Hughes was born and raised on the family farm, just outside Perth, ON. Before Alan began sawing, he ran a successful electrical contracting business that specialized in renovations and new houses. In addition to his love of custom sawmilling, Alan is passionate about war history, especially the American Civil War and WWII, including Canada’s role in the allies’ decisive victory.
